Digester Gas Flare System Improvements, Iron Sponge Treatment

CLIENT: Inland Empire Utilities Agency

LOCATION: ontario, ca

Project Value: $845K

Project Description:  Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) selected W.A. Rasic Construction as the design-builder for this group of projects that improved the digester gas flaring system and water treatment facility. The scope included adding a pressure-regulating valve bypass system with associated mechanical piping and electrical controls to allow better control of the digester gas flaring via remote SCADA operation and integration. The treatment project component involved adding two owner-furnished iron sponge vessels to the existing treatment train to create redundancy and increase capacity if needed. W.A. Rasic Construction installed additional mechanical piping systems and supports with new structural foundations to integrate and set the new treatment vessels during the four-month construction period. We installed and maintained a 5.5 million gallon per day bypass system that used multiple 12-inch high-density polyethylenes (HDPE) pipes for five months. The contract’s duration was 13 months and W.A. Rasic delivered three months early.
