Metro Airpark – Brown Field
CLIENT: Metro Airpark / Brown Field
LOCATION: Otay Mesa, CA
Project Value: $14M
Project Description: W.A. Rasic constructed major underground utility infrastructure as part of the Metro Airpark improvements at Brown Field in Otay Mesa, California. The work included installing over 10,470 linear feet of storm drain piping with 71 structures, including aircraft-rated box culverts and biofiltration basins. Our scope also included 6,840 linear feet of domestic water pipeline, including dual metered backflows and multiple laterals to new FBO (Fixed Base Operator) facilities; and 1,360 linear feet of fire water lines, supported by 7 backflow devices, 6 fire hydrants, and stainless steel risers. In addition, we constructed 5,460 linear feet of sewer pipeline and 13 manholes, tying into existing infrastructure at Britannia Way, and delivered an additional 2,260 linear feet of sewer pipeline in a second phase to support phased execution. Work was performed within an active airfield environment, requiring disciplined scheduling and safety coordination to maintain operations while advancing deep utility construction.
