The Arbor Vitae Permanent Power Duct Bank
Client: Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA)
LOCATION: LOS ANGELES, CA
Project Value: $7M
Project Description: This project was developed to provide the critical electrical infrastructure to energize the Consolidated Rent-A-Car Facility (CONRAC) at Los Angeles International Airport. This work consisted of installing approximately 57,000 linear feet of 4-, 5-, and 6-inch conduits in multiple concrete encased duct bank configurations in major arterial streets to intercept numerous existing Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP) vaults and provide power to the new CONRAC. Work included installing 10 LADWP electrical vaults measuring 8 feet wide x 16 feet long x 12 feet deep and were set with a 125-ton crane. W.A. Rasic also performed a 161 linear foot, 48-inch jack and bore under the new Metro Crenshaw Rail Line. Excavations ranged from five to 25 feet deep and were performed using beam and plate shoring, trench shields, and hydraulic jacks. Extensive pavement restoration was also part of the scope of work. This extremely fast-paced and critical path project required detailed coordination between multiple project owners and stakeholders.
