Joint Water Pollution Control Plant Effluent Outfall Project
Client: Los Angeles County Sanitation District
location: carson, ca
Project Value: $85M
Project Description: For this $750 million, seven-year-long project, W.A. Rasic Construction was the primary subcontractor to Dragados USA. We designed and constructed a broad scope of civil elements required to relocate existing utilities that surrounded multiple new concrete structures. Work included constructing three, large-scale concrete valve/junction structures that house 168-inch diameter valves at depths of over 40 feet, supporting large diameter existing sewer force mains ranging from 14 inches to eight feet diameter and installing large diameter butterfly valves that range from 96 to 168 inches in diameter. W.A. Rasic Construction also designed and constructed 300 linear feet of 14- to 18-foot diameter cast-in-place concrete sewer line, performed multiple sewer connections into large diameter structures, demolished the concrete manifold system at Royal Palms Beach location, constructed a Secant pile shoring system at ocean shoreline in groundwater to depths of over 50 feet, and installed a 114-inch temporary sewer manifold with a 15 MGD sewer bypass system, a new concrete manifold system that includes three 192-inch manifolds, eight large scale butterfly valves that range from 60 to 144 inches in diameter and associated large diameter welded steel pipe. W.A. Rasic Construction performed extensive dewatering to facilitate multiple large-scale connections to existing LACSD sewer systems.
